2019 Audi Q5 vs 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC

Serving Farmington Hills, MI

The 2019 Audi Q5 comes with a comfortable interior, plenty of space, and the power required to make heads turn. The clean-cut interior and exterior give the Audi Q5 an elegant look and it’s easy to see why buyers are showing interest in the compact crossover. In the opposite corner, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC features cabinet-grade interior and does not cut short on technology, but there are only minor changes for the new model year. Both the 2019 Audi Q5 and the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC have a lot to offer, which means that when compared, it’s the small things that make the biggest differences. And as it turns out, the Audi has that a little bit more to offer, which sets it apart from its competition.

Features

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC comes standard with heated front seats, keyless ignition, a power driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, 18inch wheels, a 7.0-inch infotainment display, and wood trim. The 2019 Audi Q5 however, offers leather upholstery for the base models, xenon headlights, power-adjusted front seats, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, two USB ports, 18-inch wheels, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. When it comes to the infotainment system, Audi also features a 7.0-inch screen, however, it offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, whereas the Mercedes-Benz offers that compatibility for an extra price – making them one of only a few manufacturers that charge for those operating systems. Additionally, the leather upholstery for the Mercedes-Benz is included in a different package, which means you would have to spend a bit more money to get it.

Performance

The Mercedes-Benz comes with a 2.0 liter turbo-4 with direct injection as well as stop/start. It has 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the 2.0 liter turbo-4 is already a familiar tune when it comes to Audi, and it also does offer a bit more horsepower than the Mercedes-Benz, the sole engine making 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The Audio also features an evolved version of its famed Quattro system and is able to launch to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds, which is not an easy feat considering that the Q5 is relatively heavy. Additionally, Audi’s all-wheel-drive system can now disconnect the rear axle, which makes for better efficiency, or it can hook up the rears, which makes for a sportier drive. Moreover, the five-link front and rear suspension that the Audi features is able to soak in road imperfections. When it comes to towing capacity, the Audi Q5 is also the clear choice over the Mercedes-Benz for pulling heavy loads.

Comfort

Both vehicles are equipped to fit the same number of people, what sets them apart is the fact that the Audi Q5 offers more room for passengers in the backseat. Behind the second row of seats, the GLC offers 19.4 cubic feet of cargo space in SUC, and 17.7 on Coupes. Meanwhile, the Q5 features 26.8 cubic feet of cargo room, which is made better due to the low load floor. While both are comfortable and luxurious, as mentioned before, Audi Q5 manages to stand out due to the fact that even its base versions feature leather upholstery, which is no small feature considering that the Mercedes-Benz charges extra.
