2019 Audi A4 vs 2019 Lexus IS

Serving Farmington Hills, MI

The modern-day scene for compact, entry-level luxury sedans still remains as active as it historically has always been, with droves of buyers looking for a convenient daily driver having plenty of affordable options this year. The 2019 Audi A4 is certainly a choice to consider, debuting this model year as a completely new redesigned model with a host of exciting new features. Competing in this segment against the Audi are cars such as the 2019 Lexus IS, which remains mostly unchanged since its last model year.

One of the best advantages of choosing the 2019 Audi A4 is that a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is available as an option, whereas it is not with the 2019 Lexus IS. Dual-clutch automatic transmissions offer a sportier experience for the driver that prioritizes performance over all else by providing lightning-quick shifts. Both models are capable of sprinting from 0 to 60mph in exactly 5.6 seconds, but the Audi A4 is able to do so with an all-wheel-drive system. In other words, the Audi A4 should be able to perform at quick speeds even in rougher conditions such as in wet weather or snowy climates versus the Lexus IS which can only accelerate that quickly in its rear-wheel-drive configuration.

Fuel Economy

For those wanting to save some extra change in the compact luxury sedan segment, the 2019 Audi A4 presents a more frugal offering versus the starting price of 2019 Lexus IS. Although this might not seem like a significant amount of savings, the Audi A4's superior highway mileage of 34mpg, when factored into the cost equation, is substantially better than the 30 miles per gallon highway fuel consumption of the 2019 Lexus IS. Over time, the Audi A4 owner should come out ahead in savings assuming maintenance costs are approximately the same for both models. Even city fuel consumption in the Audi is superior, at 23mpg versus the Lexus' 21mpg. City-dwellers and highway drivers alike can both rejoice at Audi's ability to have a smaller carbon footprint.

Last, but certainly not least, the Prestige trim of the 2019 Audi A4 offers advanced technology that typically comes only on much more expensive models that the Lexus IS does not. One such piece of technology featured in the Prestige trim is the full-colored heads-up display which shows valuable information such as the speed of the vehicle, projected onto the windshield of the car right above the dashboard surface. The Lexus IS currently does not offer this as an option.
